July 2023

We were a party of nine, including 9 month old twins. The house was ideal and the amount of rooms and bathrooms meant we were able to live very comfortably all together for the week without feeling as if we were on top of each other. A great situation for getting to the beach and the shops and other amenities. A lovely week with wonderful weather and we would definitely return to Bentleys.

Holidays in Bude

Carrying the title of Cornwall’s northern-most coastal town, Bude is perfectly placed to enjoy some of the north coast’s beautiful beaches and coastal walks.

Bude has so much to offer when it comes to things to do, including a fabulous town with a wide selection of independent shops, cafés, and restaurants – not to mention the wildest live music venue in Cornwall. In addition, visitors can meander along Bude Canal, stretch out on one of the many beaches, or enjoy a gentle cruise in a pedal boat or kayak, observing the beautiful area from a different angle. The town is home to the historic Bude Sea Pool and The Castle Bude, both a must if you are in the area.

For those who enjoy walking, the South West Coast Path can be easily accessed from Bude. You’ll be blown away by the stunning scenery and breathtaking views along the coastline – it’s also a great dog-friendly day out!

With so much on the doorstep, it’s the perfect destination for a holiday by the sea!

Top tip

Take a dip in the historic Bude Sea Pool at Summerleaze Beach!

Beaches in Bude

Each with its own character and charm, the beaches in Bude are great whether you’re a swimmer, surfer or sand-snoozer.

Summerleaze Beach – Boasting the iconic sea pool, and only a five-minute walk from the centre of Bude, Summerleaze Beach is Bude’s central hub of sand, surf, and sun. Clean, safe, and easy on the eye, Summerleaze Beach is a big hit with surfers, sun-bathers, and families. However, it’s the sheer variety of activities that mark Summerleaze as arguably one of the best beaches in Cornwall for outdoor pursuits and watersports so definitely swing by if you love a hands-on holiday.

Crooklets Beach – At low tide, you’ll find a huge expanse of golden sand along with lots of rockpools to explore, making it very popular with families. There’s also decent surf and lots of amenities nearby including a beach café for those all-important ice creams and even a skate park.

Widemouth Bay Beach – Stretching across one and a half miles of golden sands, Widemouth Bay is divided into two halves, the North beach and the South beach, separated by a natural barrier of rock known as Black Rock. As the tide retreats, amazing rock formations are exposed - perfect for rockpooling and getting back to nature!

Northcott Mouth Beach – Three miles North of Bude is the small rocky beach Northcott Mouth, which is owned by the National Trust. As the tide drops, the beach opens up to expansive sand with rockpools dotted all around - perfect for exploring with the dog all year round.

Ordinarily, a castle built on the sand might not seem like the best idea, but Bude Castle has really stood the test of time! Built around 1830, the castle was formally the home of Victorian inventor Sir Goldsworthy Gurney. It’s now a heritage centre with lots of fascinating exhibitions and art galleries, making this impressive feat of architecture an interesting day whatever the weather.

Opened in 1930, this partially man-made tidal swimming pool in the rocks of Summerleaze beach provides a lovely, safe place to swim, perfect if you’re not ready to swim in the sea. The pool is open all year round, but of course, it depends on the tide and weather, so always check before heading out.

Based near Summerleaze beach, Bude Surfing Experience provides water sports equipment hire and watersports lessons so you can hit the waves running as you try your hand at surfing and stand-up paddleboarding!

Walks

With lots of stunning walks in and around Bude, walkers will be spoilt for choice when it comes to scenic routes. Head out onto the South West Coast path for dramatic coastal paths or head inland and explore the many walkways, which take you across crisscrossing fields, through woodland trails and even past Bude’s historic aqueduct.

What our guests say...

We know how important honest reviews are when it comes to booking your holiday. To help you choose the right property for you, we publish all reviews left by guests who have stayed here in the past, with the few exceptions stated in our Review Guidelines. Please bear in mind that some facilities referred to by past guests in reviews can be removed or changed at any time.

This property is great for large groups, the rooms are very generous in size and very well laid out. Although beware, there are multiple bathroom facilities on first floor but there are none on ground floor, so anyone with mobility issue would have an issue at this property. Would certainly recommend this property to others as long as it suited their party.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review, we hope you enjoyed Bentleys. As you rightly said, the bathroom facilities are located on first floor, so we do not market the property as accessible. If accessibility is a consideration, please do get in contact with our sales team before booking so that we can advise on the suitability. We hope that Bentleys suited all members of your party, and hope that you enjoyed everything that Bude had to offer. Lucy, Customer Services

A large property, well situated and suited to a multi-generational party. The property has multiple bathrooms and a big well-equipped kitchen. Easy access to shops and beach.

Very spacious double bedrooms. Well equipped kitchen. Great location to the town and beaches. Plenty of off street parking. Central heating and shower water pressure/heat excellent. Bathrooms could do with an update and shelves fitted for storage of toiletries. All in all an excellent property and would definitely book again.

Another great stay at Bentleys. Our first visit was in 2019, and we were very excited to be going back. Excellent accommodation for adults and children alike. Plenty of outdoor space and seating. The location is fabulous, a short walk from the beaches and all the facilities in Bude. We booked the same week for next year on the drive home!

Just returned from Bentley's in bude a lovely big house ideal for large groups or families we were a family group of 12 and there was plenty of room for all of us.plenty of crockery and cutlery and the house was fully equipped if you decided to cook as we did it n a few occasions.just a few minutes walk into the down and to the beach.would not hesitate to return and would definitely recommend it for larger groups

A wonderful house in the perfect location to explore Bude. Lots of space and spotlessly clean. The welcome pack was a lovely gesture and Aspects as always made the booking very easy and their properties are always a good standard.

The house exceeded all our expectations for a large holiday let. Very well equipped and all the rooms were much larger than the photos suggested. The washing machine was very useful as we had three children and a baby with us! Aspects were absolutely brilliant in fixing a couple of minor problems very quickly. The arrangements for the keys were superb, no queuing or waiting or travelling elsewhere. Brilliantly well equipped kitchen with lots of cutlery, plates, glasses, mugs etc. I'd recommend this place unhesitatingly to anyone travelling as a group - lots of bathrooms and loos always essential and this place has plenty! A fairly short and easy walk to Crooklets beach (easier than Summerleaze although it doesn't look like it on the map). We left a car parked at Crooklets the whole holiday with all our beach paraphernalia in it. Facilities such as food and toilets are also very much better at Crooklets, I wish we'd found it on our first day!

Has a fantastic holiday in Bude, house was perfect, very comfortable and well equipped. Town a beach is a short walk away . Would definitely use aspects to book a holiday in the future they look after there customers. And to top it the sun shone all week.

We enjoyed our stay at The Bentleys. There was plenty of space for all of us. The location was perfect, 5 mins to beach. The house could of been modernised a bit, but overall a pleasant stay.

Ideal house for a large family party, short walk into the town and to the lovely beach.
